The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is pleased to bring to you the Mental Capacity Act Code of Practice Seminar 2011 with the theme
“The Mental Capacity Act: Rethinking Caregiving”.
The Seminar will bring into focus the practical aspects of the new Mental Capacity Act as well as the roles and responsibilities of caregivers. Leading experts from the legal, healthcare and social service sectors will share their professional insights on various aspects of caregiving. The topics will include the assessment of mental capacity, the treatment of persons lacking capacity as well as the prevention of abuse of persons who lack capacity. Hear also the personal experience of a caregiver for a person who suffers from Alzheimer's disease.
The keynote speech will be from the Honourable Chief Justice,
Mr Chan Sek Keong. The Acting Minister for Community Development,
Youth & Sports, Mr Chan Chun Sing will also give an address.
This Seminar has been designed for professionals who work with persons lacking capacity as well as members of the public who are keen to know more about the roles and responsibilities of caregivers within the framework of the new Mental Capacity Act.
This is a free Seminar open to all professionals and members of the public.
